The Cebu Institute of Technology – University (CIT-U) has been distinguished as the grand winner in the national finals of the 2023-2024 Huawei ICT Competition, earning a spot to represent the Philippines in the upcoming regional finals.
This achievement places CIT-U alongside teams from Bulacan State University (BulSU) and MAPUA University, both of which secured the 1st prize in the competition.
Team WEI Care from CIT-U, together with Team Juancard from BulSU and Team ELB Project I-Sight from MAPUA, will compete in the Innovation Track of the regional finals, set to be evaluated online by a panel of judges.
This phase will test their prowess in utilizing ICT solutions like AI, IoT, big data, and cloud computing to address real-world issues, design innovative solutions with social and business impact, and develop comprehensive models tailored to societal needs.

Team Juancard, notable for being an all-female group, received a special award during the national finals for their outstanding contribution, underlining the event’s commitment to inclusivity and the empowerment of women in the ICT sector.
The Huawei ICT Competition has seen participation from students in Huawei ICT academies globally, with the Philippines joining the fray in 2020.
Since then, there has been a significant increase in the number of participating universities and students, demonstrating a growing interest and commitment to fostering ICT talent in the country.
