SM Seaside City Cebu celebrated World Choral Day on December 8 by showcasing performances from local choral groups at the Mountain Wing Atrium, highlighting the beauty and power of music and harmony.
World Choral Day, an initiative by the International Federation for Choral Music, was established in 1990 and is celebrated annually around the second Sunday in December.
Over the past two decades, the event has seen participation from thousands of choirs worldwide, with millions of singers taking part in concerts to honor the day.
This year’s celebration in the Philippines coincided with the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, a significant event for the Catholic community.
SM Seaside City Cebu welcomed Cebu’s finest choral groups, including Koro Teknoy from Cebu Institute of Technology – University, Huni Habagat from University of Southern Philippines Foundation, CTU Choristers from Cebu Technological University, CNU Chorale from Cebu Normal University, UP Serenata from University of the Philippines – Cebu, UC Chorus from University of Cebu, Salazar Singing Ambassadors from Salazar Institute of Technology, and Los Cantantes de Cebu.
The event featured a diverse repertoire, ranging from classical hymns to contemporary arrangements, showcasing the versatility and talent of the participating choirs.
Chef Luis de Terry complemented the musical performances with a curated menu that paired well with the choral harmonies, enhancing the overall festive atmosphere.
