SM Supermalls in Cebu once again proved that the true spirit of Christmas lies in sharing and caring, as they brought holiday joy to hundreds of underprivileged children through ChriSMiles, an annual project under its Employee-Volunteerism program.
Organized by SM’s HR Department, ChriSMiles encourages employees to donate gifts, share sweet treats, and spend quality time with children in need.
This year’s festivities kicked off on December 14 at SM J Mall in Mandaue City, where 150 kids from Barangay Bakilid received presents and enjoyed fun activities prepared by the mall’s employee-volunteers.
On December 19, SM Seaside City Cebu hosted 50 pupils from Alaska Elementary School in Barangay Mambaling.
Aside from the usual gift-giving, each child received a donated “Bear of Joy”—part of SM Cares’ annual charity drive, where shoppers purchase a pair of stuffed bears for only ₱280.00 and donate one bear to a child in need.
The generosity continued on December 20 at SM City Cebu for 50 orphans from SOS Children’s Village in Barangay Talamban.
Volunteers made sure the children were treated to an afternoon of games, laughter, and a bounty of holiday goodies.
Finally, SM City Consolacion capped off the ChriSMiles campaign on December 23 by hosting a Christmas party for 450 kids from Barangay Tolotolo.
The festivities took place at the Sto. Niño Spirituality Center, where children enjoyed food, entertainment, and special giveaways.
ChriSMiles is closely supported by SM Cares, SM Supermalls’ corporate social responsibility arm, which focuses on various advocacies for the betterment of communities, the environment, the elderly, women, breastfeeding mothers, children, youth, and persons with disabilities.
Through programs like ChriSMiles and Bears of Joy, SM employees and shoppers alike are given opportunities to uphold the true essence of Christmas—spreading hope, love, and happiness to those who need it most.
