Logistics platform Lalamove has launched ride-hailing services in Cebu, aiming to provide commuters with more transportation options while offering partner drivers a low commission rate of 2%, the company said in a statement.
Lalamove plans to onboard at least 1,500 drivers with hatchbacks, sedans, and multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs) in Cebu during the first half of 2025. The service will operate in Cebu City, Mandaue City, Lapu-Lapu City, and other parts of the province.
“The rapid economic growth of Cebu is undeniable, especially as it continues to attract over 2 million local and international tourists. All these combined fuel the heightened need for better transportation means, especially during peak, holiday, and tourist seasons,” said Djon Nacario, Lalamove Philippines Managing Director. “Lalamove Ride’s ride-hailing entry in Cebu aims to provide convenient, safe, and affordable transportation options for Cebuanos and ease the challenges posed by traffic congestion island-wide.”
Boosting Transport and Livelihoods
The expansion is expected to generate additional income opportunities for partner drivers, who can earn 98% of their fare revenue. Lalamove’s ride-hailing drivers will also have access to delivery bookings through the platform, although they cannot accept both ride-hailing and delivery requests simultaneously.
Drivers will have the flexibility to plan their schedules and routes to maximize earnings, the company said. Many existing Lalamove drivers already position themselves in high-demand areas such as Mandaue City, Talisay City, and Cebu City for deliveries, and can now optimize their time to serve commuters.
Requirements for TNVS Drivers
Lalamove said interested applicants must submit key documents, including a Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC) or Provisional Authority (PA) from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), a professional driver’s license, and proof of passenger accident insurance. Background checks, including NBI, barangay, or police clearances, will also be required.
For drivers using borrowed vehicles, a Letter of Authorization from the vehicle owner is needed, while second or third owners must provide a Deed of Sale.
“Lalamove has been in Cebu since 2018 to cater to the on-demand delivery needs of Cebuanos island-wide. More than ride-hailing services, our goal is to provide better transportation, offering convenience, affordability, and safety so Cebuanos can get to where they need to be,” Nacario said.
Lalamove’s ride-hailing expansion in Cebu follows its existing operations in Metro Manila, where it has built a network of delivery and transport services.
