South Korean singer-songwriter and actor Seo In Guk visited Boracay after being named the Philippines’ new celebrity tourism ambassador, highlighting his role in promoting the country as a travel destination.
The visit marked his first experience on the island, where he explored its beaches, played golf, and engaged with local fans.
Seo participated in various activities, including a sunset yacht cruise, boat tours, and the crystal kayak experience along Station 1.
He also sampled local dishes, trying sisig and sinigang as part of his immersion in Filipino culture.
His appointment as a tourism ambassador follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed with the Department of Tourism (DOT), which will run for one year.

The agreement allows him to promote the Philippines to South Korean travelers and his global fanbase through events, social media, and official engagements with the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB).
DOT officials highlighted South Korea’s importance as a key market for Philippine tourism and expressed optimism about the collaboration’s impact.
Seo’s involvement is expected to strengthen cultural and tourism ties between the two countries, with the partnership emphasizing personal commitment rather than financial incentives.
Industry stakeholders, including Philippine Airlines and Shangri-La Boracay, supported the initiative, which aligns with the DOT’s broader “Love the Philippines” campaign. Tourism officials indicated openness to further partnerships with international personalities to boost the country’s global appeal.
