SM Supermalls is introducing a series of first-in-Cebu dining experiences across its malls in the city, marking a significant shift in the local culinary landscape with a mix of international names and homegrown favorites.
SM Seaside City Cebu, one of the Visayas’ largest lifestyle complexes, continues to diversify its food offerings with the opening of brands such as Cibo, known for its modern Italian cuisine, and Lugang Café, which serves Taiwanese specialties.
These follow the earlier introduction of Michelin-recognized brands like Hawker Chan and Tim Ho Wan.
At SM JMall, the group is focusing on contemporary and globally recognized concepts. Hoshino Coffee, a Japanese café chain known for its hand-drip brews and soufflé pancakes, has made its local debut.
It is joined by Yakiniku Like, a solo-dining grill restaurant, and Twist & Buckle, a churro brand acknowledged by the Michelin Guide for three consecutive years.
SM City Cebu is also seeing new additions with ABACA Baking Company opening its first café inside an SM mall.
The café, rooted in Cebu, offers handcrafted baked goods and locally inspired coffee. Meanwhile, Starbucks is set to unveil a uniquely designed branch incorporating modern native Filipino design elements.
The culinary expansion continues into May, with restaurants under The Moment Group—Ooma and Manam—expected to begin operations.
Tavolata, a Cebu-based Italian restaurant, will make its SM debut, while Wolfgang’s Steakhouse and Nagi Izakaya will further boost the city’s fine dining and casual Japanese options.
SM Supermalls said the expansion reflects its goal of offering curated food choices that match Cebuano preferences, balancing global trends with local identity.
