More than 2,800 advocates, families, and individuals on the autism spectrum gathered at SM Seaside City Cebu on April 27 for the Angels Walk for Autism 2025, an event aimed at raising awareness and promoting inclusion for the autism community.
Organized by the Autism Society Philippines (ASP) in partnership with SM Cares, the Cebu leg of the nationwide initiative brought together participants to celebrate neurodiversity and support the rights of individuals on the autism spectrum.
The walk started at the Mountain Wing Atrium of the mall, passing through several key areas before concluding at the Cube Wing Atrium, where a community program was held. During the event, nine wheelchairs were formally turned over by the Department of Health and ASP Cebu to SM Seaside City Cebu.
The handover recognized the mall’s continued efforts in supporting autism advocacy and creating accessible spaces.
First launched in 2000, the Angels Walk for Autism has evolved into a major platform for advancing public awareness and inclusion efforts for persons on the spectrum.
The annual event serves as a call for greater acceptance and understanding, encouraging the broader community to actively participate in advocacy initiatives.
SM Supermalls, through its corporate social responsibility arm SM Cares, remains a partner of the Autism Society Philippines in promoting inclusive experiences across its properties.
SM Seaside City Cebu has implemented training programs for its staff to ensure compassionate and respectful service to individuals with diverse needs.
The Angels Walk for Autism is among several programs under SM Cares’ advocacy for persons with disabilities, which also includes initiatives supporting senior citizens, women and breastfeeding mothers, children and youth, and environmental sustainability.
