Cebu is cruising into a greener future as BYD Cebu Group officially launched three new showrooms this month, signaling a major leap forward for electric vehicle (EV) adoption on the island.
Leading the charge is BYD Cebu Central, a sprawling 6,500-square-meter flagship showroom in the heart of North Reclamation Area, Cebu City. It’s not just the biggest BYD dealership in the Philippines — it’s a full lifestyle experience, complete with its own BYD Café operated by local favorite Steer & Stir Café, perfect for customers to relax while exploring the latest in sustainable mobility.
Joining Cebu Central are two more showrooms: BYD Cebu IL Corso and BYD Ayala Center Cebu, officially marking their grand openings after soft-launching earlier this year. Together, they bring the total number of BYD showrooms in Cebu to four — with a fifth, BYD Cebu South in Minglanilla, already in the works and set to open by the end of 2025.
“We’re very grateful for the warm response of Cebuanos,” said Edward Onglatco, BYD Cebu President and CEO. “We’re not just selling cars — we’re offering a new lifestyle centered on clean energy, savings, and smarter transportation.”
Since landing in Cebu in April 2024, BYD has already sold more than 1,000 EVs, with even bigger goals ahead. This year alone, BYD plans to roll out four new models, giving Cebuano drivers a wider selection — from city-friendly hatchbacks to spacious family SUVs and stylish sedans.
But BYD’s vision goes beyond cars. The company is investing heavily in a charging infrastructure that makes EV ownership easier than ever. By the end of 2025, BYD aims to set up 100 charging stations across the country — with more than a dozen already operating in Cebu, many at familiar spots like Prince Warehouse branches.
And the perks? They’re hard to ignore. EV owners can enjoy up to 80% savings on operating costs compared to gasoline-powered vehicles. Each purchase even comes with a home wall charger installed, so drivers can simply “fuel up” in their own garages.
Even long drives are no problem. BYD’s latest battery technology allows drivers to circle Cebu Island — twice — on a full charge, while future inter-island trips are covered with new charging hubs in Toledo, Bantayan, and other key travel points.
With Cebu’s growing passion for sustainability, BYD’s rapid expansion isn’t just about cars — it’s about changing how Cebuanos move, live, and care for their island. And the road ahead looks electrifying.
