Aboitiz Construction has officially commenced its integrated facilities management (IFM) services at Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA), marking a major milestone in the company’s shift from pure-play construction into long-term operations and asset maintenance.
The five-year contract with Aboitiz InfraCapital Cebu Airport Corporation (ACAC) covers critical airport systems, including the baggage handling system, passenger boarding bridges, and the visual docking guidance system.
The scope also includes comprehensive facilities maintenance for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and civil works, all supported by a centralized help desk and a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) platform to streamline digital tracking of assets, vendors, and spare parts.
The contract is structured under service level agreements (SLAs) and aligns with the Minimum Performance Standards and Specifications (MPSS) mandated by the government and the Airport Council International (ACI). Over 150 personnel have been locally hired to deliver the services, supporting both operational needs and local employment in the region.
MCIA serves as a vital hub in the country’s aviation and logistics network, accommodating more than 11 million passengers annually. It connects 21 airlines to 41 destinations and continues to expand its services. In March 2025, the airport was named Best Airport in the Asia-Pacific (5 to 15 million passengers category) by ACI, citing excellence in service and sustainability practices.
The IFM contract at MCIA is part of Aboitiz Construction’s broader strategy to build a long-term maintenance business. In April 2025, the company also signed a three-year agreement with Aboitiz InfraCapital Economic Estates to provide facilities maintenance and housekeeping services at LIMA Estate in Batangas.
The MCIA project highlights Aboitiz Construction’s move to integrate operations, digital tools, and customer-centric services as part of its infrastructure solutions portfolio.
