Starbucks Philippines wrapped up its Global Month of Good (GMOG) this April with a series of community-centered activities across the country, including youth education, clean water access, and art empowerment programs.
Now in its 15th year, the GMOG initiative highlights Starbucks’ commitment to uplifting local communities through year-round volunteerism and sustainability-driven efforts.
In the Philippines, over a hundred Starbucks partners (employees) volunteered their time and skills to support meaningful causes.
Among the key highlights this year was the continuation of the ARAL Program in partnership with Gawad Kalinga.
Backed by a grant from The Starbucks Foundation, the initiative provided mini-libraries and reading support for young students.
Starbucks volunteers marked the culmination of the 12-week program by hosting games and distributing snacks to student graduates.
A one-day Youth Assembly was also held in classrooms built by Gawad Kalinga and HOPE Foundation in underserved communities in General Santos, Davao, Pampanga, and Bulacan, benefiting 200 students.
In Camarines Sur, Starbucks installed its 8th AquaTower at Pili West Central School with Planet Water Foundation, providing clean drinking water and handwashing stations to around 1,800 community members. The project also included hygiene education sessions for students.
Meanwhile, the Starbucks Abad Santos Community Store became a creative hub as store artists Anina Rubio, Tara Soriano, Aze Ong, and Alab Pagarigan conducted art workshops for 40 youth participants from partner nonprofits AHA! Learning Center, Young Focus, and Mano Amiga.
The sessions aimed to inspire self-expression and build confidence through art.
These efforts underscore Starbucks Philippines’ long-term dedication to positive social impact, with GMOG serving as a focal point for wider initiatives that continue throughout the year.
