Cebu is positioning itself as a world-class destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) with a major tourism forum and infrastructure showcase on June 26, 2025, under Cebu Business Month.
Organized by the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), the event, branded “MICE Ready: Staging Cebu for the Global Platform”, aims to strengthen the province’s appeal to international business events organizers and highlight new infrastructure supporting large-scale gatherings.
Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco will headline the forum, outlining Cebu’s strategic role in national tourism development.
Other speakers include Liz Ortiguera, a global travel and tourism expert, and Dato Vincent Lim, president of the Asian Federation of Exhibition and Convention Associations (AFECA).
A panel discussion featuring Lim, Thailand’s TICA representative Sumate Sudasna, and Marisa Nallana of the Philippine Association of Convention and Exhibition Organizers and Suppliers (PACEOS) will examine Cebu’s competitive positioning in the global MICE landscape.
The event will spotlight two key developments at South Road Properties—SMX Convention Center Cebu and SM Seaside Arena—expected to boost Cebu’s capacity to host international events.
The SMX facility is set to be one of the largest convention venues in the country, while the 16,000-seat arena is scheduled to open by end-2025.
Participants will also join a “Hard Hat Tour” of emerging infrastructure sites, including the Mactan Expo Center in Lapu-Lapu City, which is strategically located near the international airport and resort areas.
The initiative aligns with the Department of Tourism’s target to make the Philippines a top 10 MICE destination globally by 2030, with Cebu expected to play a leading role in reaching projected revenues of ₱25 billion.
